Guidance for Making Informed Treatment Decisions

Getting multiple opinions can help you feel more confident about your treatment choices.

Exploring Your Prostate Cancer Treatment Options

If you’ve received results from a PSA test or biopsy, you may be wondering what comes next. Many men find it helpful to talk with more than one specialist, such as a urologist, radiologist, or oncologist, to understand the different perspectives on treatment options. Prostate cancer decisions are deeply personal and can have long-term effects, so it’s important to feel informed, comfortable, and confident in the path you choose. Taking the time to hear more than one expert perspective can help you move forward with clarity and peace of mind.

Learn from People Who’ve Been There

Once you understand your medical options, it helps to talk to someone who has gone through the treatment process. At PCSANM, our volunteers are prostate cancer survivors and have experienced many of the treatments available today, and they’re happy to share their stories—by phone or in person at our office.

Connect and Ask Questions

Our support group meetings offer a welcoming, confidential space where anyone affected by prostate cancer—patients, survivors, partners, and family members—can come together for understanding, encouragement, and reliable information. Whether you are newly diagnosed, in treatment, navigating survivorship, or supporting a loved one, you’ll find people who empathize with what you’re going through. Through open conversation, shared experiences, and occasional guest speakers, we provide practical insights and emotional support to help you feel less alone and more empowered.

We encourage you to attend our next support group meeting, where you can:

  • Talk with others facing similar decisions

  • Ask questions and get straight answers

  • Bring your significant other or family members—because your decision affects them, too

These gatherings are a safe space to learn, share, and gain confidence before making any choices.

Take Charge of Your Decision

Once you’ve gathered information, spoken with specialists, and learned from survivors, you’re ready to make an informed decision about the treatment that’s right for you. Remember: it’s your life, your health, and thanks to medical advances, you have options. Take your time, ask questions, and choose the path that feels right for you.
