We host support meetings from 12:30 – 2:30
on the first and third Saturdays of most months.
Presentations will be held at the beginning of meetings, last for about 40 minutes, and be followed by a time for questions and discussion.

Presentation by Sonia Garcia-Lopez, MS, CCHW, Dental Case Manager, Population and Community Health: Oral Health During and After Cancer Treatment: What You Need to Know
Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation can have significant effects on oral health, including dry mouth, infections, and mouth sores. This presentation will cover the importance of maintaining oral hygiene, common oral side effects of treatment, and practical tips for preventing complications. Attendees will also learn when to seek professional dental care and how oral health impacts overall well-being.
Bio: Sonia C. Garcia Lopez, MS, CCHW, is a dentist with over 25 years of clinical experience in Bogotá, Colombia, and holds a Master of Science in Community Health Education from the University of New Mexico. She is a Certified Community Health Worker – Specialist II and has extensive experience in oral health promotion, public health outreach, and cancer-related health education in underserved communities. Sonia currently works in New Mexico supporting initiatives that bridge dental care and community health.

Presentation by Brittany Warpinski, Bayer: Living Well With Prostate Cancer : Sexual Health
We will be discussing sexual health as it relates to prostate cancer. Sexual health is an important part of your overall quality of life and includes not only your physical ability to have sex, but also mental, emotional, and interpersonal aspects of sexuality. Prostate cancer can affect your relationship with your partner, decrease your desire for sex, and cause feelings of embarrassment or shame. Experiencing changes in sexual health during prostate cancer is common, and there are treatment options and resources available to help manage sexual health concerns.
Bio: Brittany Warpinski is currently a nurse educator in oncology at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, where she supports both healthcare professionals and patients throughout their cancer treatment journey. Prior to Bayer, she held similar roles with other pharmaceutical companies and brings years of hands-on experience as a certified oncology nurse. She is deeply passionate about education and committed to empowering nurses and patients and their families with the knowledge and support they need in oncology care.
