Meetings

 

 We host support meetings from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.

on the first and third Saturdays of most months.

 

Presentations will be held at the beginning of meetings, last for about 40 minutes, and be followed by a time for questions and discussion. All meetings include time for discussion and sharing amongst attendees.

Presentation: Life After Prostate Cancer, by Dr. Aaron Geswaldo, Lovelace Medical Group, followed by a sharing session. Dr. Geswaldo’s presentation will focus on recovery after prostate cancer treatment, specifically addressing erectile dysfunction and bladder leakage. It will highlight effective treatment options and offer practical guidance for improving quality of life. Attendees will gain insight into the latest solutions available and clear next steps to support their recovery journey.

Bio: Aaron Geswaldo, D.O., is a board certified urologist who has practiced in New Mexico since 2005. He provides evaluation and surgical treatment of diseases and conditions that affect the male and female urinary tract (kidney, ureter, and bladder) and the male reproductive system. Dr. Geswaldo has special clinical interests in general urology, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, kidney stones treatment, and urologic cancers. His goal is to help his patients lead active, productive lives by addressing their medical and surgical needs.

Presentation: Cannabis as Medicine, followed by a sharing session

The New Mexico Department of Health Medical Cannabis and Psilocybin Program will present on cannabis as medicine. This session will explore the role of cannabis in healthcare, introduce the state’s medical cannabis program, and explain how patients can enroll. The team will also discuss safer use practices, address common questions and stigma, and share helpful resources.

Presenter Bios

Adrian Estrada

Adrian is a Health Educator with the New Mexico Department of Health’s Medical Cannabis Program. With over four years of experience in public health and more than a decade in customer-facing roles across healthcare, retail, and tech, Adrian supports patients and providers in understanding program requirements and making informed health decisions. He has hands-on experience working in dispensaries, where he educated customers and trained staff on cannabis products and regulations. His approach is practical, people-focused, and rooted in clear communication.

Ismail Zoutat 

Ismail is proudly serving as a health educator with the New Mexico Department of Health, working with the state’s medical cannabis and psilocybin program. He holds a BSc in Nutrition from the University of Leeds and an MSc in Nutrition for Public and Global Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). He specialized as a nutrition epidemiologist, with a professional background spanning academic research and consulting, university lecturing, as well as project management within refugee contexts. Notable organizations for which he worked included United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), World Food Programme (WFP) and LSHTM.  His work has focused on reducing health inequalities and improving health outcomes through applied scientific methods, interdisciplinary collaboration and strong community engagement.
